Since 1957

A long family history

In 1957, Grandfather Vincenzo opened his small shop in the beautiful medieval village of Acerenza. For three generations, that oven has never stopped baking. The family continues the tradition with father Michele and a tireless ally, sourdough starter. Our leavened products have always been a strong point, whose ancient flavors are still combined with the influences and reinterpretations that have made their success possible. The third generation, that of Vincenzo and, later, Giuseppe, is dedicated to intensive research that combines tradition and innovation, essential characteristics for the spirit of the Tiri family. For more than sixty years, we have been producing artisanal leavened desserts in the Italian tradition and passing them down through the generations.

In 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2020, our Panettone was awarded Best in Italy, and in 2017, our Colomba received the same recognition, followed by our Pandoro in 2020. This is who we are: a blend of tradition and innovation, history and progress, attachment to the territory, and a careful selection of the best raw materials. Family, territory, quality, and an original recipe: this is the secret of the ancient art of the Tiri1957 company.

The birth of a dream

Acerenza Tiri About masters of leavened desserts

Of humble origins, the youngest of nine children and orphaned at an early age, Grandfather Vincenzo had to roll up his sleeves right from the start. He was just a teenager when he began working on the old farms in the countryside around Acerenza, and, fascinated by the way bread was made there, he decided that one day he would open his own bakery.

History of the Tiri family, founded in 1957

The third generation of Tiri Casa, founded in 1957

The great success achieved in the previous decade led the family to open a new workshop, even better equipped and better designed, in order to produce increasingly soft and tasty desserts. It was in this environment, balancing tradition and innovation, that Vincenzo and Giuseppe Tiri, the young third generation of Casa Tiri, took their first steps.

After gaining extensive experience in the laboratories of leading national and international bakers, Vincenzo Tiri joined his brother Giuseppe and father Michele in managing the company. The territory

A small village
in Basilicata

Acerenza is a small village in Basilicata with about 2,300 inhabitants, located on a hill 833 metres above sea level. Its high cliff dominates the valleys below and since ancient times has been a coveted prize for all the civilisations that have come and gone. Its heyday was in the early Middle Ages, when work was completed on the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and San Canio, the beating heart of the town and the entire diocese.

The prestigious American magazine Forbes lists Acerenza among the ten most beautiful destinations in the world to visit, and it has always been considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. In this evocative setting, made up of hills, lush countryside, rivers and ancient stones steeped in history, the best Panettone in Italy is produced.

The packaging, the iconic

Packaging Master bakers of leavened desserts

The colour

The elegant blue colour of our packaging has a long history dating back to the 1950s, when Grandfather Vincenzo and Grandmother Caterina baked their first masterpieces using sourdough and wrapped them in blue sugar paper. That is why we have decided to pay homage to our long family tradition by always choosing blue for the packaging of our leavened products.

The shape

To highlight the uniqueness of our leavened products, we sought a packaging design that was equally unique and distinctive. The perfect pyramid shape of the packaging is inspired by the panoramic view of our native village of Acerenza, the cradle of our family and the headquarters of our business. It is here, surrounded by pristine waters, pure air and the scent of history and art, that our highly prized leavened products are created.

The design

The noble blue and gold colours and the refined shape of our packaging blend together in a vintage-style design that highlights the history of our company and the expertise in the production of our leavened desserts.
The rose window featured in the texture is that of the beautiful and majestic Cathedral of Acerenza, chosen to symbolise, once again, the deep roots, including spiritual ones, of our products in the territory.

Best Packaging Award

Admit it: Vincenzo Tiri’s (Acerenza, Pz) panettone, now an absolute icon, four-time winner of Dissapore’s Christmas ranking in four published editions, has beautiful packaging. A finely decorated gold ingot on a light blue background, noble and elegant. If, for some absurd reason, you were to give such a panettone to a friend who (poor thing) was unaware of the pastry chef’s fame, you would still make an excellent impression.” (Best Packaging Award 2019 for Dissapore).
