Since 1957
A long family history
In 1957, Grandfather Vincenzo opened his small shop in the beautiful medieval village of Acerenza. For three generations, that oven has never stopped baking. The family continues the tradition with father Michele and a tireless ally, sourdough starter. Our leavened products have always been a strong point, whose ancient flavors are still combined with the influences and reinterpretations that have made their success possible. The third generation, that of Vincenzo and, later, Giuseppe, is dedicated to intensive research that combines tradition and innovation, essential characteristics for the spirit of the Tiri family. For more than sixty years, we have been producing artisanal leavened desserts in the Italian tradition and passing them down through the generations.
In 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2020, our Panettone was awarded Best in Italy, and in 2017, our Colomba received the same recognition, followed by our Pandoro in 2020. This is who we are: a blend of tradition and innovation, history and progress, attachment to the territory, and a careful selection of the best raw materials. Family, territory, quality, and an original recipe: this is the secret of the ancient art of the Tiri1957 company.

The birth of a dream

Of humble origins, the youngest of nine children and orphaned at an early age, Grandfather Vincenzo had to roll up his sleeves right from the start. He was just a teenager when he began working on the old farms in the countryside around Acerenza, and, fascinated by the way bread was made there, he decided that one day he would open his own bakery.

The dream becomes reality

The history of the Tiri family business begins. Grandfather Vincenzo opens his first bakery in Acerenza and, alongside traditional products, with the support of grandmother Caterina, begins to make his first leavened cakes, strictly using sourdough and a few simple, genuine ingredients from his land.

The company expands

The great success achieved in the previous decade led the family to open a new workshop, even better equipped and better designed, in order to produce increasingly soft and tasty desserts. It was in this environment, balancing tradition and innovation, that Vincenzo and Giuseppe Tiri, the young third generation of Casa Tiri, took their first steps.

The third generation

After gaining extensive experience in the laboratories of leading national and international bakers, Vincenzo Tiri joined his brother Giuseppe and father Michele in managing the company. Important awards and recognitions brought the brand to prominence thanks to its innovative Panettone, made using an exclusive three-stage dough preparation method, which in the following years became the most awarded in Italy.

A small village
in Basilicata
Acerenza is a small village in Basilicata with about 2,300 inhabitants, located on a hill 833 metres above sea level. Its high cliff dominates the valleys below and since ancient times has been a coveted prize for all the civilisations that have come and gone. Its heyday was in the early Middle Ages, when work was completed on the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and San Canio, the beating heart of the town and the entire diocese.
The prestigious American magazine Forbes lists Acerenza among the ten most beautiful destinations in the world to visit, and it has always been considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. In this evocative setting, made up of hills, lush countryside, rivers and ancient stones steeped in history, the best Panettone in Italy is produced.
